A. ISPR said that the aircraft took off at 1:06 pm today, Monday. It is an F-7 BGI model aircraft of the Bangladesh Air Force. It is worth noting that it is a training fighter aircraft, which is made in China. The Fire Service said that the training aircraft crashed into a building of Milestone School and College at 1:18 pm.B. Eyewitnesses said that the aircraft crashed in front of a building of Milestone School. The building is two-story. Classes are held there. Eyewitness to the incident and 12th grade student Mahim Hasan Siam told Prothom Alo that the building is called Project-2. There are a total of 16 classrooms on two floors in that building. And 4 teachers’ rooms. Classes from the first to fifth grade of primary were held in this building. The plane crashed in front of the third and fourth grade classrooms. The students also said that students from the sixth to eighth grades used to coach in the building after the holidays.
c. Fire Service and Civil Defense Director General Brigadier General Mohammad Zahed Kamal said during his inspection of the accident site at around 4:45 pm today that 19 people were killed in the plane crash. At least 50 people were injured in the incident. d. ISPR said at 5 pm today that 18 people were killed. 164 people were injured. Later, ISPR said that the pilot of the plane also died in the accident. The death toll has reached 19.
e. Immediately after the plane crash, the students’ mothers, fathers and relatives gathered at the college campus. They are looking for their children. Some have not found their children. A parent named Lucky Akhtar, who was at the scene, told Prothom Alo at around 3 pm that his two children study at Milestone School. He said, “I was able to get the elder child out. I can’t find the younger one.” F. The injured were brought to the National Burn Institute in batches. According to the ISPR, 70 people have been taken there for treatment. It is worth noting that the doctors said that the condition of many of the injured is critical.
G. Pilot Flight Lieutenant Md. Taukir Islam has died in the crash of an Air Force training plane. A source told Prothom Alo that the pilot was killed.
J. An emergency hotline has been launched at the National Burn and Plastic Surgery Institute in case of emergency. Hotline number-01949043697. The Milestone School authorities have called for blood donations. This announcement was made over the microphone at the scene.
J. A metro rail carriage has been kept ‘reserved’ to bring and pick up the injured. The compartment is the next compartment reserved for women.
J. Principal Advisor Professor Muhammad Yunus is expressing deep shock and sorrow over the loss of life in the plane crash. The Principal Advisor’s press wing informed that a one-day state mourning has been declared tomorrow, Tuesday, in connection with the loss of life.
K. BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman, Jamaat-e-Islami Amir Shafiqur Rahman, National Citizens Party (NCP) Convener Md. Nahid Islam and leaders of various political parties and organizations have expressed their condolences over the loss of life.
